The $2.6 million boat construction project from Maritime Safety Queensland secured by Yamba took six months to complete.
The 14 meter Cumbina is made of aluminum and will be used as a transfer vessel between ship and shore out of Weipa.
The work on the next pilot vessel will begin soon, says Bill Collingburn of Yamba.
Maritime Safety Queensland is a government agency attached to the Department of Transport and Main Roads.
