The new restaurant will be designed to achieve Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Silver or Gold certification. Currently under construction, this facility will be Yoshinoya’s first ‘green’ and non-traditional store.
Yoshinoya will be working closely with the Associated Students UCLA (ASUCLA) on the design and construction of this non-traditional restaurant. ASUCLA runs the UCLA’s stores, restaurants, student union, student government, and other services on the UCLA campus.
The UCLA restaurant will feature many green amenities, including an ultra violet hood, water-cooled refrigeration, energy conscious equipment, and green building materials. All kitchen waste will be composted on site along with all kitchen waste generated in building. Recycled and recyclable packaging will be made use of at the outlet.
The restaurant is slated for late 2011 opening.
