The new stadium will be built near the Great America Park. The facility will span over a total of 1.85 million square feet. Apart from the 165 luxury suites and 9000 club seats, the stadium will have a regular seating capacity of 68,500. The stadium will have a flexible design which will allow it to host a wide range of events.

The steel structured stadium’s first level will consist of open pedestrian plazas, commercial community area and a team store, as well as a 49ers Hall of Fame. Each corner of the stadium will be anchored by large entry plazas. The stadium’s structure will be painted in shades of white. The stadium will have an open design which will allow views of the playing field, the nearby Silicon Valley and the mountains.

The facility will feature several green elements, such as photovoltaic panels, a living roof, public transit access, bicycle parking and a walking path access from the San Tomas Creek Trail. The building’s plumbing fixtures will help save water and are teamed with efficient building control systems to save energy. In addition, the facility has used recycled materials during its construction.

The NFL has granted $200 million for the construction from a stadium construction fund re-established as part of 2011’s collective bargaining agreement.
