New light absorbing, Nordic inspired ultra matt wood floor designs join the Kährs range

Following the successful launch last year of the Kährs Lux and Lumen ultra matt lacquer flooring collections, the leading European flooring manufacturer have now introduced four brand new, Nordic inspired whitewashed and grey toned ultra matt designs to their range.

Luxury retirement show apartment at Edinburgh Marina’s ‘Old Gunpowder Store’ features whitewashed Kährs wood flooring

Kährs’ whitewashed Oak Linen wood flooring design has been chosen for Edinburgh Marina’s Royal Wharf retirement development show apartment, in the Old Gunpowder Store. Previously used in the 19th century as a gunpowder warehouse, the building has since been magnificently restored into a luxury show apartment with a contemporary interior style. All flooring for the show apartment was supplied by Kährs flooring distributor Orchard Flooring Products, who will also supply Kährs flooring for the apartments.

Eco-focused Environ specifies Kährs again, at ‘Sails’

Environ Projects – the award-winning sustainable developer – has chosen Kährs’ wood floor designs for its latest development in Dartmouth. Overlooking the Quay, ‘Sails’ is a striking collection of eco-homes inspired by an ocean clipper. The dramatic, landmark project includes five apartments and a penthouse. The two white-toned designs from Kährs Artisan Collection were chosen to represent a coastal feel and complement Environ’s signature style and strong eco-focus. The specification follows an earlier Kährs installation at Environ’s Keepers Court in Kings Hill, Kent.

New ‘rustic vintage’ Götaland joins Kährs wood flooring range

Kährs has introduced its Götaland Collection - a new range of five oak wood floors. In colours spanning floury white to chocolate brown, the new three-strip collection combines lively oak with a vintage finish. Kährs new Chevron Collection has received the ‘Best Flooring’ award in the prestigious FX International Interior Design Awards 2016. The awards recognize the very best interior products and projects from around the world. Kährs’ beat off stiff competition from eight other short-listed manufacturers to win the award with Chevron; a new patterned parquet wood floor design, with contemporary colour and surface finishes, and an innovative plank construction.

Bespoke and ready-made patterns with Kährs Studio & Chevron

Kährs has extended its patterned floor offer with the introduction of the Studio Collection. The new range includes twelve parquet stave options - in white, natural and smoked oak, and walnut – which can be used to create traditional parquet designs and bespoke patterns, with contrasting strips and borders.

Kährs and Nu-Heat partner to offer best practice advice

Kährs Design Studio opens in Clerkenwell

Kährs has opened its new Design Studio in Clerkenwell, London’s architectural and interior design district. Located on Albemarle Way - with a roof terrace overlooking The Priory Church of the Order of St John - the Design Studio will provide a central hub for Kährs award-winning wood flooring range. It will also showcase décor styles, furnishings and heating technology from brand partners - Earthborn, BoConcept and Nu-Heat - with Kährs’ resident interior design team on-hand to provide help and expertise.

Kährs features alongside contemporary exhibits at The Scottish Gallery

Grey-toned Oak Citadelle, from Kährs Grande Collection, has been chosen for The Scottish Gallery in Edinburgh. The striking wood floor, with its earthy smoky tone and wide plank format, provides a contemporary-rustic feel throughout the exhibition space, designed by John Renshaw Architects. The installation was carried out by Glasgow-based Partnership Flooring and Kährs design was supplied by Orchard Flooring Products.

Kährs has introduced its new Domani Collection of wood floors. The new collection includes seven designs, with a discreet contemporary-rustic grain and a hard wax oil finish. The new oak and maple floors are offered in a spectrum of natural colour tones, including chic white and grey tones, naturals and rich dark browns.

Kährs installed at Consett’s state-of-the-art Academy

Kährs Oak Siena has been installed, by Reflex Sports, at Durham’s new Consett Academy. The new facility provides state-of-the-art learning facilities for 1700 students, in Consett, County Durham. Kährs high performance wood floor was installed as part of the £44 million regeneration project, by Carillion plc, which incorporated the Academy and Consett Leisure Centre.

Industry votes Kährs best wood flooring range for fifteenth time

Kährs wood flooring range has been voted ‘Hardwood Flooring Product of the Year’ by the flooring industry for the fifteenth year. The annual awards, which are jointly sponsored by the Contract Flooring Association and Contract Flooring Journal, celebrate ‘the best’ in the industry and include 17 categories. Award winners are voted for by readers of CFJ, who register in an independent ballot.

Kährs Oak Sparuto has been specified at Pho Grand Central – a new Vietnamese street food eatery at Birmingham Grand Central. Pho occupies a prime site within the new premier shopping destination, located above the city’s newly renovated New Street Station. Kährs design-treated wood floor complements Pho’s raw, urban design and eclectic mix of materials – from steel to bamboo. All flooring was installed by Blackpool-based Shopfitters and Building Contractors, Thompsons.

Kährs creates natural habitats for endangered Stag Beetles

Kährs has revealed its latest environment project, which forms part of its wide and diverse ecological approach, and as a part of its ESG (environment, social and governance) work. The wood flooring manufacturer is now creating oak ‘hotels’ for endangered stag beetles, located in rural settings close to its Swedish production plant. Other longstanding initiatives include the conversion of bark and sawdust into biofuel, to heat Kährs plant and neighbouring 20,000 homes, and the re-use of ash as a nutrient-rich forest fertilizer.

Kährs wood floor design specified throughout iconic tower

Kährs Walnut Linnea wood flooring has been specified throughout No. 1 Hagley Road - a landmark renovation programme in Birmingham City Centre. Conceived by developer, Seven Capital, the project comprises 20 levels of apartments across an iconic tower building in Five Ways. The specification totals over 14,500 m2 of Kährs flooring, which has been installed by West Midlands-based BAC Flooring Ltd for main contractor, Colmore Tang Construction. Kährs is also working with Colmore Tang Construction on further project specifications across the West Midlands and North West.

New Boathouse decked out with Kahrs Maple-FSC

Kahrs’ Maple-FSC sports system has been specified and installed, by Reflex Sports, at a new community facility for sport charity, Whitlingham Boathouses Foundation Ltd. Situated on the banks of the Norfolk Broads, the £1.2m centre will provide a rowing and canoeing facility, as well as a regional centre of excellence for the sports. The Swedish-designed floor, from Kahrs’ Activity Range, was specified for the gym and lounge areas, spanning an area of over 260 sq m.

Kährs’ oak designs feature within landmark marina development

Wood floor designs, from Kährs award-winning range, have been installed at Admirals Quay – Southampton’s tallest development situated on the city’s waterfront. The landmark marina project comprises three mixed-use glass-clad towers designed by HGP Architects, for Allied Developments Ltd. Kährs’ one-strip oak flooring was installed by Chelmer Flooring Ltd, throughout apartments and duplex penthouses, for main contractor, Bouygues UK - one of the region’s leading construction companies, which is also working on the new Alexandra Wharf and Southampton Harbour Hotel & Spa development in the same area.

Kährs surfaces feature in RIAS ‘Best Building in Scotland’

A high-end contemporary development, featuring Kährs wood flooring across a range of surfaces, has been awarded "The RIAS Andrew Doolan Best Building in Scotland Award.” Selected from a shortlist of twelve projects, the striking St Andrews’ development – by Sutherland Hussey Harris – includes 14 individual properties, designed to optimize natural light and stunning views. Property Developer, Eastacre specified Kährs pale-toned Oak Brighton for application across floors, staircases and walls. All materials were supplied and installed by Edinburgh-based G L Floors.

New Dropbox HQ features Kährs Oak Casa

US Cloud service company, Dropbox has chosen a wood flooring design, from Kährs Grande Collection, for its new EMEA headquarters in Dublin. The rustic, one-strip wood floor – Oak Casa - has been installed throughout the canteen and barista café within the project. All flooring was supplied by TileStyle and fitted by T&I Fitouts.

Rustic Kährs designs chosen for Isle of Man pub chain

Kährs wood flooring designs have been installed throughout six Heron & Brearley pub/restaurants on the Isle of Man. The installations - at The Highwayman, The Queens Hotel, The Heron, The Archibald Knox, The Rosemount and The Raven - were carried out by flooring contractor, AC Swales. Two wood designs - Kährs Oak Aosta and Kährs Oak Dun - were specified through the interiors.
