The Transport for London (TFL) Government scheme to upgrade the Underground system has seen a new substation building constructed at Griffith House on Chapel Street, besides Edgware Road station. Cladding specialist A J Wells & Son, specified NVELOPE knowing that they would be able to supply a support system which would be perfectly suited to this demanding project.
NVELOPE’s vertical brackets and NV3 system were specified, but required customising to enable support of the 45kg panels. Usually supplied as a stack system, the brackets were configured to be demountable, meaning that if one cladding board becomes damaged, the individual panel would be able to be replaced, rather than having to take off a number of the boards. Once designed to meet the project’s specific requirements, a total of 2,500 NV3 brackets were specified to support the 1.8m x 1.2m cladding panels used on this 1,529 square metre building, with around 650 being provided with a greater depth to compensate the deviation in the wall.
