ZCH’s Managing Director, Rob Pannell, updated the small and regional housebuilders on the Zero Carbon journey, its definition and cost of meeting the zero carbon standard. Delegates were also informed on the latest news on the performance gap project, which aims to close the gap between design and as-built performance.
Stacey Temprell, Saint-Gobain’s Sector Director for Residential, rounded up the presentation by introducing a range of product solutions designed to meet the UK government’s 2016 zero carbon target.
Stacey said: "The event highlighted the importance of improving the energy efficiency of new homes if we are to achieve the zero carbon standard. Building better performing homes will not only make efficient use of available energy resources, helping to reduce fuel bills for the homeowner, it will create a more comfortable living environment for the occupant.
"We’re looking forward to future Low Energy Know How events, where we will continue to update housebuilders on the challenges in the industry, while presenting practical solutions for constructing zero carbon homes."
The pilot event proved very successful, with one delegate commenting: "This is a great presentation by the Zero Carbon Hub with regards to the new proposed legislation to deliver low carbon homes by 2016, followed by Saint-Gobain educating us on how to reach the targets in a cost efficient way. It was well worth attending the seminar."
