Called ACO Selecta, the new range of floor gullies is fire proof, provides a high degree of automatic smoke protection, and offers specifiers a wide choice of grating styles for use in solid or suspended concrete floors, and in new or refurbishment projects.

Unlike many competing plastic and aluminium drainage products, which are often unable to withstand the high temperatures of up to 1,000°C found in building fires, the new ACO Selecta gullies are manufactured with cast iron bodies with a melting temperature of 1,120°C. Just as importantly, as drainage gullies and connecting pipework often provide a path for the passage of fire, smoke or toxic fumes, the new ACO Selecta gullies feature a unique patented fire protection cartridge.

This has been tested and certified to meet BS EN 1366 Part 3 – Fire Resistance Tests for Service Installations – Penetration Seals, and is constructed from an intumescent material that expands dramatically when the ambient temperature reaches approximately 200°C. The rigid cast iron body forces the cartridge expansion inwards to block off the gully outlet entirely from fire and fumes. The fire protection cartridge can easily be retro-fitted if the building undergoes a change of use, where fire protection is later required.

The new ACO Selecta range of gullies has been designed in accordance with BS EN 1253 Gullies for Buildings, and provides specifiers with a wide range of choice of grating styles in either stainless steel or nickel bronze for tiled, resin, cementitious or flexible sheet flooring applications.

Each gully unit is supplied with a membrane clamp as standard, with a wide choice of gully tops being available for various floor finishes, including insulated floors, without the need to specify additional raising sections. Additionally, ACO Selecta gullies can be supplied with wetroom gully tops, which incorporate an integral, hermetically sealed polypropylene fleece to ensure watertight connections with proprietary roller/brush applied tanking systems.

Further options include rodding eyes for use with all floor finishes, for direct connection to 110mm soil pipe, while solid stainless steel or nickel bronze covers with double seals ensure air and watertight access. For applications where a minimalist approach is required, direct connection gully tops can accept the ACO Selecta grating range in either stainless steel or nickel bronze, as well as an optional foul air trap if required.
