The company has sent out a mailer promoting the use of green flooring products during the specification process. Entitled ‘leading the field’, the mailer encourages recipients to visit a microsite within the company’s website to find out more about how to specify sustainable flooring products. The first two hundred and fifty people to register their interest will receive a copy of the ground-breaking book, ‘Change the World 9 to 5,’ a guide to the practical things that can be done during the working day to make a difference to the environment.
Burmatex has its origins firmly grounded in environmentally sound practices and began life in 1917 recycling old clothing and rags. The company’s commitment to sustainability was reinforced when Burmatex recently became one of the first carpet manufacturers in the UK to achieve one of the highest possible ratings under the UK Building Research Establishment’s Environmental Profiles Certification Scheme in assessment against the Green Guide to Specification.
Environmental concerns are more prevalent than ever and Breeam ratings are fast becoming a primary consideration throughout the construction industry. The carpet ranges manufactured by Burmatex, including fibre bonded carpet sheet and tiles and tufted tiles, achieved a BREEAM A-rating following the assessment. In addition, the company has committed to get all of its new products tested.
Burmatex recognised the need for clarity on BREEAM issues so visitors to the microsite will have access to further information and a comprehensive questions and answer section. To find out more, visit: www.burmatex.co.uk/leadingthefield
