Visiting the doctor in West Yorkshire is now an altogether more pleasant experience following the completion of the new Waterloo surgery in Huddersfield. The surgery’s striking interior, finished in April 2005, benefitted from flooring by Heckmondwike FB, the UK’s leading manufacturer of fibre-bonded carpets and carpet tiles.

Fitted in the reception, doctors’ rooms, corridors and administration areas, the Montage carpet tile collection combines both high performance and aesthetic appeal. Its unique two layer construction offers important benefits such as sound dampening and the ability to withstand heavy foot fall – key benefits in a healthcare environment. Available in 18 colourways, the attractive Montage ‘Cobalt’ colour option was selected for use in the surgery to complement the building’s interior, as well as for brightening all areas.

The company’s Gympro broadloom carpet was installed in front of the reception area. A heavy contract carpet, Gympro is extremely hard wearing and will not unravel or fray. It also provides enhanced acoustic properties and acts as an effective interceptor which prevents outside dirt from being carried throughout the rest of the surgery. The Gympro ‘Silver’ colourway was chosen to complement Heckmondwike FB’s Montage ‘Cobalt’ carpet tile.

SuperDreadnought, a heavy contract entrance area broadloom carpet, was also installed at the surgery’s main door in the ‘Anthracite’ colourway. Available as both broadloom carpet and carpet tile, SuperDreadnought is designed to further reduce the amount of dirt and grime carried through into the reception area. This makes the carpet easier to clean and maintain, resulting in long term cost savings.

Heckmondwike FB provides a range of fibre bonded and specialist tufted flooring solutions for use in many healthcare environments. All products offer exceptional durability, meet relevant flammability tests and anti-slip characteristics to provide improved safety.
