Plymouth based flooring contractor, Roberts Flooring Ltd held a competition for school children to create a design for their own classroom floor, for which Heckmondwike FB provided the material.
300 schools across Devon were challenged to take part in the competition and a huge number of entries were received. The winning design was a bright funky looking carpet which significantly impressed the competition judges. The winners title went to 11 year old Calstock Primary School pupil, Heather Keegans whose design was transformed into a bespoke new floor within the lobby of the school.
The installation was carried out by Roberts Flooring free of charge and the Supacord carpet was donated by Heckmondwike FB. A total of 40m² was installed in a variety of bright accent colours, including red, green, yellow and blue.
Local area sales manager, Jo Harrison said, Heathers bright design completely bowled over the judges, it captured a fun, quirky look and really enhances the schools lobby. The effort put into the competition was phenomenal and has given us the opportunity to show that flooring doesnt have to be just plain carpet tiles, it can become very creative.
