The tennis club selected Playrite’s Matchplay 2 in colours Playrite Green and Sporting Green to create the increasingly popular two tone effect.

Matchplay 2 is designed as a sand dressed Tennis Surface and due to its high performance and durability it is an excellent choice for Tennis courts. The inbuilt cushion layer makes for medium-paced play and is easy on player’s leg joints, whilst low maintenance and high porosity rating makes for all weather usage. Not only that the needlepunch tennis surface is classified to ITF Category 2 Medium Slow.

The surface was installed by Doe Sports of Fife http://www.doesport.co.uk/ who have been installing tennis courts and multi-use games area since 1946. Over the years they have expanded to also include hockey and football pitches. Doe are an established and reputable company who provide innovative sports solutions and have an experience of working with Playrite’s artificial sports surfaces.

Fred Walker, West Linton Tennis Club’s Treasurer comments: “Overall we are delighted with the courts. A priority for us, and a condition of our lottery funding from SportScotland, was to select a ‘user friendly’ surface which would be easier on limbs/joints than the painted bitmac courts which many clubs locally have. The Matchplay 2 carpet certainly is comfortable to play on and the ‘cushioned’ surface restricts the bounce a little, which is beneficial to us as we have fairly restricted space around the courts.” He continues to add: “There is great enthusiasm for tennis around West Linton just now, perhaps partly thanks to the exploits of Andy Murray but particularly due to our excellent new courts!”
