Humanscale’s Trea chair, designed by Todd Bracher, was recently awarded the Best of the Best award by the prestigious Red Dot Award for Top Design Quality and Ground-Breaking Design. Professor Dr. Peter Zec, Founder and CEO of the Red Dot Award stated, "Innovation is not always visible with the naked eye. Often it is hidden aspects, such as a refined technology inside the product or an improved combination of materials, that constitute a lucid and sometimes brilliant new development — All those who are successful before this jury have invested a lot of time and understanding into the product submitted."

Celebrating its 60th anniversary, the Red Dot Award consists of an evaluation process that rates each individual product according to functionality, degree of innovation, formal quality, ecological compatibility and other criteria. As one of the most respected and renowned annual design competitions in the world, Red Dot consistently receives thousands of quality submissions. This year, Trea was selected out of 4,928 entries evaluated from manufacturers, designers and architects hailing from 56 countries.
Trea is the latest design from Bracher, who was twice nominated for International Designer of the Year, and has worked for brands such as Georg Jensen, Fritz Hansen Tom Dixon, and 3M over his 20 year career. Trea features a groundbreaking "solid state" recline mechanism that involves no moving parts while providing exceptional ergonomic comfort. The chair was also created to be sustainable through its lightweight and high percentages of recycled and recyclable content. It will be available for purchase in the U.S. this summer.

In addition to The Red Dot Award for Top Design Quality and Ground-Breaking Design, Humanscale also earned an honourable mention for Ballo and QuickStand.

The winners will celebrate their success at an awards ceremony Monday, June 29, 2015 in Essen, Germany. In addition, the winners will be prominently featured in The Red Dot yearbook and Red Dot Design Museum.
