Developed as part of Bona’s existing oil system, this versatile, two-component treatment can be used on its own or combined with the system’s tone treatments and hardwax oil. However a significant benefit is that it can also be over-coated with all Bona Traffic lacquers, when required, to provide very high surface durability and greater resistance to dirt. This extends its use into areas such as airports and other public spaces that are heavily trafficked and require more frequent cleaning and maintenance. Overcoating with new Bona Traffic Natural lacquer not only enhances durability, but also retains the look and feel of an oiled floor. Alternatively Bona Traffic HD lacquer can be applied as the top coat for ultimate durability.
A further key benefit is its exceptionally long pot life and open time – a huge advantage when treating large areas. Drying time is still very short however and in this respect Bona Craft Oil 2K outperforms many other two-component floor oils. The Neutral version dries and is ready for light use in just 8 hours while the 5 intermixable coloured versions take around 12 hours.
The modified, plant-based oil formula, combined with its hardener, delivers a high degree of saturation and very high resistance to water and chemicals, so a very resilient surface can be achieved even without the addition of a lacquer coat. As with any oiled surface, floors treated with Bona Craft Oil 2K are spot repairable. Maintenance is also problem free – in addition to regular sweeping or vacuuming, simply remove any localised dirt with a Bona Spray Mop. Maintenance oiling will only be required every 2 or 3 years in homes and 2 or 3 times per year – or as required – in public areas.
Bona Craft Oil 2K works perfectly on practically all wood species – including tricky ones such as Cherry and Walnut. And, in line with all Bona’s treatments, care has been taken to develop a product that is as safe and clean to work with as possible. Low solvent Bona Craft Oil 2K has passed the requirements for application on children’s toys and is also approved by DIBt as a low emission, safe building product.
