Omkstak in a refreshed palette for 2017

Founded by Rodney Kinsman RDI in 1965, OMK’s mission was to design progressive furniture by employing contemporary technology and using modern materials. Kinsman’s vision was met by SirTerence Conran, and OMK went on to design and manufacture much of the furniture sold throughConran’s Habitat stores throughout the 60s and 70s.

Whilst in more recent years the brand has enjoyed success designing for the public sector, OMK1965 is delighted to return to contemporary design scene with four of its refreshed design classics.

Omkstak
Stackable, simplistic and stylish – Omkstak has stood the test of time in both form and function. To celebrate its 45th anniversary, Omkstak will now come in eight shades, with five new colours being launched at designjunction: Turquoise Blue (teal), Salmon Pink, Dahlia Yellow, Traffic Red and Capri Blue. The new palette was inspired by the scenes surrounding Lake Garda, Italy, where they have been produced since they were designed in 1972.

Tokyo
Originally designed in 1985 for London's Groucho Club, Tokyo was launched at the Milan Furniture Fair the same year. From this September, this sculptural plywood stool will be available in a black powder coated finish, instantly giving this elegant design a contemporary update.

Orbit
Orbit is as practical as it is refined, composed of a large main mirror and a smaller orbiting vanity mirror with both regular and magnifying surfaces. Orbit will be launched in four new finishes at designjunction: bronze, chrome or powder coated black or white.

Designed in 1981 Orbit is used in the home and commercially in hotels, a testament to the durability.

T-1
The T1 Sling Chair was first bought by Terence Conran for his Habitat store in 1967 and it quickly became one of their most popular models. As OMK’s first product, the T-1 is a true British design classic, and is one of the best examples of post war high-tech design.
