Crafted Series (created by Milliken’s in-house design team and made in Wigan) was inspired by the modern craft movement. The warp and weft of the weaver’s age old techniques are celebrated and given a contemporary twist. In Crafted Series the Milliken designers pay homage to the hand-crafted and in particular woven forms. It’s a technique that helps enhance the textured appearance of the carpet and creates subtle tonal changes and a sense of movement across the floor plane. The 50cm tiles are of tufted structured loop pile construction and use Milliken’s unique patented Millitron® digital patterning technology.
As with the crafted items lovingly made by hand that inspired the collection, Crafted Series allows for a unique result every time it is used. The carpet tile designs and patterns give the designer endless possibilities for play with colour combinations, shape-building and designs that flow from one to another.
The collection has two designs: ‘Woven Colour’ and ‘Modern Maker’. There are six carefully curated colours (in each design): aqua, parchment, indigo, orange, charcoal and chartreuse. The colours can be used alone or in combination allowing for experimentation and play with tonal movement; light and shade
‘Woven colour’ has a strong pattern with pockets of deep colour. It is designed to emphasise colour movement and the appearance of woven colour. The patterns comprise nine different elements, ensuring that each layout will be different ad-infinitum experimentation and tile combinations. The second tile design ‘Modern Maker’ (also made up of nine different tile designs) emphasises the warp and weft components more obviously emulating the weave construction. ‘Woven Colour’ and ‘Modern Maker’ can be used individually or together within a scheme.
Crafted Series is made using ECONYL® yarn featuring 50% pre-consumer and 50% post-consumer content. The carpet tile backing is made from 90% recycled content cushion backing. The cushion backing not only offers underfoot comfort but also improves acoustics. Crafted Series can be delivered within 10 days as part of Milliken’s Quick Ship service. Crafted Series has the following third party certifications: Produced in an ISO14001 certified facility in England, CRI Green Label Plus, GuT, EPD verifications, BRE certified and contributes to Well certifivation as well as offering LEED® credits. Crafted Series can be returned via Milliken’s Re-Vision closed loop carpet take back programme.
