Double height racking expands capacity

Simon Howells, recently appointed managing director said: “The Group’s business is enjoying continued growth; as a business that prides itself on award-winning customer service, this instalment ensures we will continue to offer the finest choice of tiles in the marketplace and our product will reach our customers efficiently and in the manner that best meets their requirements”.

Craven Dunnill is the longest operating tile distributor and manufacturer in the UK. It comprises three divisions: Craven Dunnill, Craven Dunnill Jackfield and Craven Dunnill

Project Ceramics. The business dates back to 1872 and is pursuing a long-term investment strategy for continued expansion.

The previous two-warehouse arrangement has been replaced with one large, fully integrated facility. The new building provides an additional 1850 pallet spaces and doubles the height of the pre-existing racking. New dock levelling equipment has significantly reduced product handling and unloading times at goods inward, whilst the eleven dedicated loading bays ensure swift despatch via Craven Dunnill’s own transport fleet of 18 vehicles.

Construction of the new building was completed May 2019. Designed with sustainability to the fore, the warehouse is heated via a biomass fuel system, uses LED lighting throughout and generates energy via a system of photovoltaic solar panels across the roof.

The next stage of development for the Group is the expansion of its merchandise and sampling service, which is due to be completed later in 2019, and an upgrade to the showroom at its Bridgnorth site.
