From compact studio apartments to large open-plan living, Home Design by Schmidt has all the innovation and inspiration needed to create attractive, intuitive and optimised kitchens, dining rooms, utility areas, hallways, bedrooms, bathrooms, dressing rooms, home offices and storage for every need. The trend for bringing a sense of the outside in has become increasingly popular and it’s a style that’s here to stay. Biophilic design is now a part of everyday life and it’s a look and feel that promotes a sense of calm and well-being, even on the most busy and hectic of days.
Brand new for 2023 is the Botanic Black print, a design that takes its inspiration from French Toile de Jouy, an illustrative pattern typically printed in black, red or blue on an off-white background for wallpaper and home textiles. This new Botanic print can be used to bring a natural furniture finish to the kitchen or open-plan kitchen diner as well as to create a personalised room divider for home working and study.
Botanic Black is a great way of bringing nature into the home, especially for city and urban living. The large floral digital print creates a striking statement look that works beautifully paired with the new colour from Schmidt, Mossa, a green lacquered door, as shown on the Loft open-plan kitchen below. The Botanic collection is also available in Green and Coral and forms part of Schmidt’s Print range, adding a light decorative touch to individual pieces and complementing other colours such as the cocooning khaki Mossa, achieving a warm, soft and reassuring scheme that’s inviting, intimate and soothing all at once.
Schmidt’s new Botanic print works well on small surfaces but its decorative effect has much more impact when used on larger pieces, as shown in this stunning open-plan Loft kitchen diner. Here, a compact yet practical U-shaped kitchen and office space have been divided using a one-piece interior solution featuring a wealth of storage. It successfully separates the two areas without enclosing either space.
Refined with a modern edge, Botanic Black works in perfect harmony with the warm and soft tones of Mossa. The one-piece storage solution separating the two spaces features concealed appliances, drawers and a breakfast cupboard on the kitchen side, open and closed storage for books, paperwork and office essentials on the other and tall shelving for household items on the end. The breakfast cupboard is so handy for keeping the toaster, kettle and coffee machine neatly tucked away when not in use and comes with a pull-out shelf to keep the worksurface clutter-free.
The new Botanic print can also be used to create a feature within the kitchen area with an integrated extractor clad in this beautiful botanical design. Copper handles enhance the elegant finish while the addition of plush bar stools and matching dining chairs, also by Schmidt, create a sociable space for family dining and entertaining. To complete the outside-in look, add plenty of potted plants and fresh herbs on the worksurface, window sill and open shelving as well as wooden accessories, chopping boards and floral prints for rugs, window dressings and artwork for a cohesive look.
Schmidt can also design an efficient and functional office space, ideal for home working and study. The Matt Emerson laminate desk shown below is available in 38 colours and blends perfectly with the Mossa water-based and solvent-free lacquered cabinets for a calming workspace away from the kitchen area. Indirect lighting installed beneath shelving helps to soothe the eyes while the calming colour scheme aids concentration and focus.
“Our new Botanic design creates instant impact in any interior space,” says Tamara Heller, Marketing Operations Manager at Schmidt UK. “This statement print can be used sparingly or as a whole decorative look within any room, bringing an immediate feeling of nature and beauty into the home.”
