Fluidity and sharing are the distinguishing features in today's contract projects such as hotels, workspaces, public spaces, and residential areas. They represent a priority in contemporary design that goes beyond simple arrangement. It translates into the art of creating harmonious connections among different areas of the involved spaces, facilitating dialogue and a natural flow between them. With the aim of ensuring the blending of environments, Pedrali outdoor collection strive to bring the same quality and care of indoor furnishings to the outside. Sofas characterised by soft water-repellent upholstery and hand-woven or made from recycled materials seats are protagonists of Pedrali outdoor comfort, offering design and functional solutions. Collections conceived and produced to provide users’ well-being, defined by excellent technical performances and aesthetics, in a perfect harmony of nuances and materials, thanks also to the choice of refined textured fabrics designed specifically for outdoor use. Made with high-quality materials, these collections guarantee resistance to different weather conditions, easy cleaning and durability.
An example of such philosophy is Reva Cocoon designed by Patrick Jouin, a system of lounge seats for outdoor use, whose very name evokes a relaxing, dreamy ambience, which, with its soft lines and generous sizes, is the natural evolution of the Reva Twist sofa. Born from the desire to create a flexible outdoor piece of furniture ensuring ultimate freedom of use, Reva Cocoon is highly adaptable and configurable in a variety of ways to ensure maximum comfort and personalisation. Sofas made up of linear and corner elements and chaise longues, with striking stainless steel backrests in two different heights and woven with rope in weather-resistant polypropylene, for a truly natural appearance.
To enhance comfort and ensure greater seating depth, the high backrests of Reva Cocoon are defined by a double curvature embracing the perimeter frame in extruded aluminium, at the ends of which stand four tapered legs in die-cast aluminium. With its generous volumes and high backrests, Reva Cocoon creates a space within the space, offering protection and shelter from the outside world for those seeking a moment of relaxation and escape. The cord element, made 100% in Italy by expert craftsmen, offers vital privacy, while keeping the piece of furniture airy and bright using a thicker weave in the lower part and a looser one in the upper section.
An outdoor sofa designed to enjoy moments of conviviality and relax in the open air, suitable for home living but also for lounge areas in hospitality place, Nolita sofa by CMP Design is characterised by simple and iconic shapes and a steel tube structure that provide visual rhythm and gentle proportions and ensure the greatest strength and durability. Recalling the origins of a historic course, started by Mario Pedrali in 1963 with his first metal garden chairs, Nolita sofa keeps the collection’s distinctive features of transparency and lightness. The comfort is enhanced by soft cushions in polyester, protected by a waterproof cover and covered with outdoor or polypropylene fabrics. The versatility of Nolita sofa lies in the possibility to combine different modules: linear or angular with right or left armrest.
Arki-Sofa, presented also in the new “Plus” version with a deeper seat, is an outdoor lounge seating system that provides all the comfort and elegance of an indoor sofa. Sofa and armchair echo the extruded aluminium frame and the linear, rigorous shapes of the Arki collection. Its geometrically shaped and generously thick cushions rest on a light structure supported by elastic belts. The injected polyurethane foam with waterproof lining covered in outdoor fabric guarantees excellent performances in the open air. The seat is raised off the ground by stainless steel feet, while the backrests and armrests are characterised by distinctive teak detailing. Through the presence of linear modules and chaise longues, with Arki-Sofa multiple compositions can be created to meet the needs of space and personalisation.
Lamorisse by CMP Design is an armchair designed for the outdoors, but it is equally suited to any setting for pure relaxation. Its aluminium frame makes it ideal for a waterfront veranda, shaded outdoor areas, for a poolside table, and even on a ship deck. Its lightweight structure in extruded aluminium, with oval legs welded to round tube armrests, holds a large and enveloping cushion. The main feature of this armchair is the contrast between the sober shape of the supporting frame and the use of a lavish, enveloping cushion. The seat is supported by elastic belts that offer maximum comfort and strength. The cushion consists of multiple sections joined by a zip and folded to create the seat, the backrest and the armrests. The easy placement of the cushion on the structure facilitates storage and handling and allows the padded parts to be renovated without having to replace the entire product.
There’s also space for Narì armchair, springing from the collaboration with the designer Andrea Pedrali, who wished to pay tribute to his grandfather Mario Pedrali, founder of the company which celebrated its 60th anniversary in 2023.
The result is a seat that echoes some of the elements of the first forged iron garden chairs from Pedrali’s 1960s collection, in a contemporary key by using traditional techniques and know-how combined with new industrial technologies.
The distinctive feature of the legs of the Serenella chair of those years, obtained from a double rod forged by hand and bent, is evoked using a double steel tube that features a simpler, more linear shape. Narì is an outdoor armchair with a strong steel structure and a weather-resistant woven in extruded PVC with a nylon core wrapped around the armrests and backrest. This woven element, created in Italy by expert craftsmen, tightens towards the lower part of the seat and widens towards the top, calling to mind the fan-shaped geometry inspired by the backrest of the Serenella armchair. The seat and backrest accommodate a comfortable polyurethane foam cushion covered with removable outdoor fabric. Consisting of two sections joined by a zip, it rests on a seat with steel slats. The choice of the name stems from a popular local tradition and refers to the nickname by which Mario Pedrali’s family used to be identified.
Another natural fit for outdoor environments is Babila Twist by Odo Fioravanti, a steel armchair characterised by a large and welcoming shell woven with a flat rope in polypropylene that wraps around the armrests as well and creates a play of light and shadow on the backrest. The woven body is combined with a tubular steel frame with slats for the seat. These are screwed, making them easy to disassemble and recycle. A comfortable cushion made from dry-feel polyurethane foam that dries quickly, is covered in fabric for outdoor use.
