Pedrali, Italian manufacturer of contemporary design furniture for contract and residential, will take part from 16 to 21 April in the 62nd Salone del Mobile.Milano, the world's most important international design event. On its 35th participation, the brand is set to unveil eleven new collections for indoor and outdoor spaces, including brand new collections and extensions of existing collections. These creations are the result of internal research & development and collaborations with international renowed designers. A family business story that began 61 years ago, allowing Pedrali to develop a 100% Made in Italy philosophy, expressed in its control over the entire production chain within the Headquarters in Mornico al Serio (Bergamo) and the wooden furniture manufacturing in Manzano (Udine).
#PedraliColoursofLightness Salone del Mobile.Milano 2024 hand drawing DWA Studio
The booth, titled #PedraliColoursofLightness (Hall 14, Stand A23-B24) and designed by the Milan-based studio DWA Design Studio, reveals an ethereal and dreamlike environment defined by transparencies and characterised by the skillful use of colour and lightweight materials.
The entire space concretises as a pure architectural volume, covering over 900 sqm, crafted with a textile gauze in celestial blue colour that allows visitors to glimpse and perceive the interior of the stand. To enhance the idea of lightness, a fabric veil hangs from the ceiling, seemingly responding to the motion of the air, like floating sails moved by the wind. This veil creates an almost transparent ceiling with a cerulean hue that, through a delicate interplay of layers, imparts an architectural rhythm to the area. Simultaneously, it conveys the environment a cozy and almost enchanted atmosphere.

In order to pursue the sustainable philosophy that has always guided the company, attention was paid to the selected materials, the optimisation of raw material consumption, resource rationalisation, material reuse/recycling, and disassemblability in the design phase of the stand. This translated into emptying the space of superfluous elements, reducing it to the essential. Furthermore, all elements used within the stand were designed to be disassembled and reused, thereby maximising the durability and sustainability.

The celestial blue colour of the architecture, which serves as a background and creates continuity, is matched by equally soft and delicate shades in different sets, reminiscent of the nuances of the sky throughout the day. Meanwhile, more intense and bold notes of colours characterise the products, highlighting them within the scene. This choice is inspired by the art world, particularly the paintings of Giorgio Morandi and the photographs of Luigi Ghirri. Colour is an essential component in design, as well as in art, an element to which Pedrali has always paid great attention, becoming an integral part of the company's brand identity. Colour becomes a driving element capable of influencing the perception of an environment, enlivening it, and imparting an emotional impact on mood and daily life.

Pedrali collections are placed on raised platforms made of raw birch wood, recreating various indoor and outdoor settings. In order to guide visitors through an engaging and multisensory journey, a selection of seatings is also placed on the ground to be touched and tested.
The landscape design integrates seamlessly and harmoniously, with nature taking center stage in all installations, defined by shades of colour of different seasons. Delicate ground plants define the outdoor area, while hanging plant compositions create an almost surreal atmosphere within the indoor spaces.
These green clouds, present themselves as artistic installations that delicately decorate the setting, emphasising the importance of bringing nature into our everyday lives.

The natural element is exalted, and the interplay of shadows creates a partitioning of spaces, allowing the visitor's imagination to take over.
#PedraliColoursofLightness invites people to discover worlds where every nuance tells a story and every moment is a revelation. The journey is a promenade that winds through seven settings, allowing visitors to immerse themselves in the atmosphere of a sunny day, moving from the cool tones of early morning to the warm tones typical of sunset. The delicate colour of the sky envelops the space, confirming the importance of experiencing open spaces – the same spaces that inspired Mario Pedrali 61 years ago in creating the first collections in wrought iron for outdoor use.
Within each set, the artistic world is further emphasised by paintings and canvases that highlight the colours, as true art installations.

The collaboration with DWA Design Studio has also led to the creation of a brand new product that will be presented for the first time at the Salone del Mobile.Milano: Twiny is a rugs collection conceived for welcoming and intimate outdoor atmosphere. The collection includes two different patterns, both in twill and defined by a discreet graphic sign, one striped and one diagonal. The rug background in neutral shades of sand is divided into two tone-on-tone sections, one lighter and one darker. The name Twiny reflects the essence of the rug design, with two motifs almost like twins: when multiple rugs are placed side by side, they create rhythm and a playful visual effect. The rugs are made from cord obtained by weaving a polypropylene yarn, which is strong yet soft and completely recyclable, ensuring a very high level of performance when placed outdoors, guaranteeing resistance to sunlight and weather, easy cleaning and maintenance. Thanks to their refined appeal, they are designed to complement both outdoor and indoor spaces, while adding a contemporary distinctive touch.

Within the first setting, representing a living context, warm tones such as yellow and terracotta predominate. Here, nature creeps in from above, floating in space, while three-dimensional volumes covered in fabric gauze, reminiscent of a console or wardrobe, give an image of lightness.
The new lounge and sofa versions of Lamorisse recreate an elegant living room, featuring Blume tables by Sebastian Herkner, with their typical flower-shaped column.
Lamorisse lounge and sofa, designed by CMP Design, are a lounge armchair and a two-seater sofa. Main feature of Lamorisse is the contrast between the sober shape of the solid ash wood frame and the soft, generous and enveloping cushion. The solid ash wood frame is characterised by a rounded section armrests in steam-curved ash wood jointed to the oval shaped legs.

Rizz, the new table designed by Robin Rizzini, also fits in this setting. Made of aluminum, it ensures both strength and lightness at the same time. The four tapered die-cast aluminium legs are the distinctive design element of Rizz. From a triangular section facing outwards, they gradually vary their curve as they continue downwards, tapering into a round section to rest elegantly on the floor.
The legs are featured by a sinuous curve directed towards the centre of the table top and connected to a hidden support frame, to ensure aesthetic lightness and maximum stability even with large tops. Round, rectangular or square tops available, with rounded corners, available in different materials.

Around Rizz, Héra Soft armchairs, designed by Patrick Jouin, find their place. Héra Soft echoes the elegant and fluid lines of the collection, introducing a new level of comfort and cosiness.
Ash or American walnut frame, its elegant and ergonomic backrest is made of injected polyurethane foam. The wide seat is also made of injected polyurethane foam with elastic belts to maximize the comfort.
The oval-shaped solid wood legs accommodate the curved and enveloping backrest. The attention to detail makes Héra Soft suitable for prestigious hospitality projects of restaurants and hotels as well as to fit harmoniously into elegant living rooms.
Tamara pendant lighting by Basaglia Rota Nodari light up the room.
Buddy Oasi takes center stage in the second setting, an outdoor lounge area defined by orange tones and a vertical nature development within grid structures. The atmosphere is characterised by a luminous canvas in gauze. Designed by Busetti Garuti Redaelli, Buddy Oasi is the outdoor natural evolution of the iconic Buddy collection. Characterised by its welcoming spirit, Buddy Oasi is a furnishing solution that further expands the collection, opening to the outdoor world. Buddy Oasi's distinguishing feature is the movable backrest, with a soft, organic shape. Made of injected polyurethane foam it can be easily and freely placed on the seat to create multiple configurations. A ballast and a non-slip fabric base provide stability to the backrest.
Buddy Oasi is designed to furnish outdoor environments, thanks to a completely waterproof lining and removable outdoor fabric covers ensuring easy maintenance. Available in five sizes, and two heights, Buddy Oasi offers the freedom to create multiple layouts.

Also featured in the scene are the Caementum coffee tables by Marco Merendi & Diego Vencato, proposed in the new glossy finish, made of concrete with the addition of carefully selected additives to guarantee excellent technical performance.
The third set reveals an outdoor cafeteria, with sunset colours in the background and nature coming to life vertically. The scene includes Philía, the brand new outdoor seating collection designed by Odo Fioravanti. Reminiscent of the traditional Italian garden chairs, Philía recalls relaxed lifestyle in open air, typical of the Italian “dolce vita” of the Sixties. A side chair and armchair featured by rational and geometric lines that blend with softer forms typical of the human body.
Philía is characterised by a resistant steel tubular frame, while seat and backrest are wrapped in a pvc cord, textured with lines, that, thanks to horizontal direction weaving, intersects at the centre to ensure elasticity and high resistance.
The hand-made weave gives softness and comfort to the seat, as well as a tailored made look.
Frame and weave can be either one colour or two tones, presented in warm shades that blend easily into natural landscapes.

Further on, an indoor space is reached, representing a lounge area of an elegant hotel. The orange hues and suspended greenery embrace the environment, where the protagonist is Ester Lounge, designed by Patrick Jouin, a precious monolith shaped by soft lines and harmonious proportions. This lounge armchair maintains the elegant characters of the first armchair presented in 2013, enhancing it with even softer and more generous shapes together with increased comfort. Ester Lounge is made of injected polyurethane foam with elastic belts. Proportions have been conceived to gracefully accommodate a wider, cosy seat, on which rests a comfortable cushion, and a backrest with a curved, enveloping design.
In designing Ester Lounge, Patrick Jouin emphasized the characteristic oval shape of the backrest, which distinguishes the collection.
The curves of the backrest follow the forms of the armrests, ending on the floor with refined die-cast aluminium legs. The stylish, sinuous lines of the Ester Lounge make it perfectly suited for lobbies of elegant workspaces or in lounge areas of prestigious hospitality settings.
Ester Lounge has been selected for the exhibition “Universo Satellite” held at Triennale Design Museum Milano, as part of the celebrations for the 25th anniversary of SaloneSatellite.
The Blume coffee tables by Sebastian Herkner, the wireless Giravolta lightings and Isotta pendant lightings, both by Basaglia Rota Nodari, complete the scene.
The path is interrupted halfway by a material library: an installation featuring a large circular table resembling a sundial that marks time. This tableau, which echoes the hues of #PedraliColoursofLightness, creates a live moodboard that allows visitors to immerse themselves in a multisensory experience and explore the Pedrali universe: a collection of materials, samples finishes, fabrics, images and videos. A source of inspiration for bespoke furniture to make every project unique.
At the centre of the “mood board table” is a special, full-height version of Hevea – a versatile furnishing element, designed by Victoria Azadinho Bocconi, that brings nature indoors. A pot-holder consisting of a central steel stem to which polypropylene pots are hanged, obtaining different configurations based on their number and position. This versatile object makes it possible to arrange plants vertically. In this area you can immerse in a series of short videos emphasising Pedrali’s values, craftsmanship, factory technology and sustainability.
The fifth setting showcases an outdoor terrace characterised by cooler green tones and lush yet delicate vegetation placed within grid structures. Nolita Sofa and Nolita Relax by CMP Design, the Caementum coffee tables by Marco Merendi & Diego Vencato, and Giravolta by Basaglia Rota Nodari furnish the space.
Nolita Sofa is an outdoor sofa designed to enjoy moments of conviviality and relax in the open air, featuring simple, iconic shapes and a steel tube structure that ensures the greatest strength and durability. The cushions in polyester are protected by a waterproof lining and covered with outdoor fabrics. The versatility of Nolita Sofa lies in the possibility to combine different modules, linear or angular with right or left armrests, which can be connected through a new element: a solid laminate connecting top, available in different colours, rectangular or 30° angular.
This year's novelty is Nolita Relax – generous sized armchair that maintains the lines and design of the collection, to evoke the origins of the brand begun by Mario Pedrali way back to 1963 with his first metal garden chairs.
Nolita Relax shows its summertime appeal by simple and iconic shapes. The steel tube frame gives visual rhythm and gentle proportions, ensuring maximum strength and durability. A single line from the ground, defines both armrests and backrest.
The armchair incorporates the collection's spirit of transparency and lightness, the comfort is given by soft cushions with waterproof lining and removable outdoor fabric cover.
Decorative cushions available in various shapes: rectangular, square and round.
Twiny rugs, with green pattern, are presented here side by side, creating a playful visual effect.
Narì, designed by Andrea Pedrali, is the outdoor armchair presented for the first time at the 61st Salone del Mobile.Milano. It was selected in 2023 by ADI Design Index and is competing for Targa Giovani that will be awarded in 2024 on the occasion of the Compasso d'Oro ADI.
Narì armchairs, presented with Anemos table by Pio & Tito Toso, create the sixth set: a cosy outdoor patio. Narì is a seat that echoes some of the elements of the first forged iron garden chairs from Pedrali’s 1960s collection, in a contemporary key by using traditional techniques and know-how combined with new industrial technologies. The distinctive feature of “Serenella” chair legs of those years, obtained from a double rod forged by hand, is evoked using a double steel tube that features a simpler, more linear shape. Narì is an outdoor armchair with a strong steel structure and a weather-resistant woven in extruded pvc with a nylon core wrapped around the armrests and backrest. This woven element, created in Italy by expert craftsmen, tightens towards the lower part of the seat and widens towards the top, calling to mind the fan-shaped geometry inspired by the backrest of the Serenella armchair.
The seat and backrest accommodate a comfortable polyurethane foam cushion covered with removable outdoor fabric. Consisting of two sections joined by a zip, it rests on a seat with steel slats.
Anemos is a table characterised by simple and architectural shapes. Its distinctive feature is the base, composed by two separate concrete shells secured to the top. Like a structural membrane, these elements free themselves from their image of intrinsic weight and, through a double curvature, take on a flexible and sinuous shape. The result is a table that seems sculpted by the wind, visually light yet stable and solid due to its significant weight, capable of supporting large tops. Its materiality is enhanced by its tactile and chromatic characteristics, which create a shaded matte surface in concrete or clay hues.
The last area, dominated by cool tones of purple, projecting the visitors into an evening atmosphere, represents a modern and elegant restaurant. Here the protagonist is the new Stiel collection, designed by Sebastian Herkner, characterised by an idea of elegance and sophistication. Comfort and meticulous attention to detail inspired Stiel, a seating collection featured by soft and rounded shapes in polyurethane
foam on a curved round steel tube frame. Following to the first “Blume” family designed by Sebastian Herkner for Pedrali, "Stiel", which in German means "stem", emphasizes the simplicity of the steel frame. The family includes a side chair, an armchair and a lounge version, and a barstool in two different heights. Seat and backrest are connected to the frame without visible fixing screws.
The lounge armchairs recreate a cosy seating area around the Blume coffee table, also designed by Sebastian Herkner.
Chairs and armchairs find place around Frank table, designed by Robin Rizzini, a table inspired by architectural shapes and industrial materials. Together, rational lines and curves contribute to conveying an image of lightness and contemporaneity. The structure on which the top rests is made up of two slightly curved die-cast aluminium bases with variable thickness, the perception of which varies according to the point of view. Seen from the front they are slightly arched and resemble the shape of a sail, creating a light and ethereal optical effect. Seen from the side, the volume appears full. The bases taper towards the bottom, reaching the ground in a less accentuated curve and are connected by a sturdy steel beam, placed under the top.
Tamara and Isotta, the pendant lighting by Basaglia Rota Nodari, complete the environment, creating the perfect atmosphere.
The seven settings come to life around a central courtyard, divided into different areas and characterised by the use of colour and the presence of natural elements: an outdoor terrace and a bistro, a wide cafe area, and a more private area that also serves as an arena. Here, we find numerous Pedrali collections, including the new Héra Straw, designed by Patrick Jouin. Available in ash or American walnut, this armchair embodies the concept of lightness and comfort. The three-dimensional plywood backrest is easy to handle and has a remarkably elegant and ergonomic design. The cellulose rope seat is hand-woven in Italy, and gives the armchair a warmer and natural look. A water-proof treatment ensures greater resistance and an easy maintenance. The oval-shaped legs are fully integrated into the backrest, to visually recall a wooden sculpture.
The space is enriched by Patrick Jouin's Héra and Héra Lounge armchairs, Blume seating collection, and Blume System bookshelf by Sebastian Herkner, Buddyhub by Busetti Garuti Redaelli, and Laja 2 armchairs, designed by Alessandro Busana, which has been restyled this year. There is also space for outdoor collections: Panarea Lounge, Lamorisse and Guinea by CMP Design, Souvenir designed by Eugeni Quitllet, and Babila Twist by Odo Fioravanti. The Reva Cocoon sofas by Patrick Jouin and Arki-Sofa plus create an lounge area.
