Regenerating a 1920s Liberty-style complex and transforming it into Italy’s largest urban thermal park means engaging with history, water, and the collective imagination. This is how De Montel – Terme Milano was born: a former stable nestled in the San Siro district that, thanks to a concept by THDP, guides guests through a sensory journey centered on water—from its iridescent veils to the steam that permeates every space—reactivating the memory of a symbolic place in the city.
THDP reinterprets the space using contemporary and sustainable materials, choosing the memory of the old stables as the common thread. Saviola’s ennobled panels, a certified expression of circular economy, combine eco-responsibility with sensory comfort: the light finishes recall the worn leather of saddles and the color of hay, while the darker tones evoke the sturdy barn doors. In this way, contemporary materials become a bridge between memory and innovation, while also ensuring the technical performance required by a modern thermal complex.
Just beyond the entrance, the reception opens in an embrace of amber melamine panels, instantly putting guests at ease in a moment of welcoming serenity. The relaxation areas are sensory oases dominated by a suspended ceiling made of ennobled panels with a maple finish, completing the spatial concept and distributing the lighting: a silky light radiates, like the calm of a veiled dawn gently caressing the space with subtle and soothing elegance. The color palette of the panels acts as a link between the restored lime-plastered historic walls and the new interior language.
In the vanity areas and private bathrooms, surfaces are warmed by the enveloping tone of Saviola’s recycled ennobled panels. A honey-colored oak spreads a cozy warmth, like golden light filtering through branches on an autumn morning. It invites calm and conviviality, tinting the space with a sweet balance. Here, the panel serves as cladding for walls and consoles, creating a dialogue between backlit mirrors and satin-nickel fixtures with a wooden base that absorbs and reflects the light, evoking a homely atmosphere.
De Montel – Terme Milano demonstrates how the pursuit of wellness can coexist with heritage preservation, thanks to ethical and advanced material choices. The ennobled panels from the Saviola Group—AA8 Honey Limburg Oak, DV9 Oak Elegancia, and P25 Vanguard Grape—are not mere finishes: they are the narrative fabric aligning history, design, and sustainability.
For architects, interior designers, and investors seeking high-performance, versatile, and responsible solutions, Saviola’s collections offer a wide range of decors, textures, and thicknesses capable of transforming any concept into a complete sensory experience.
