A $23.75 million contract for elevator, escalator and moving walkway upgrades at all LAX terminals has been awarded to KONE, the Finnish manufacturer of elevators and escalators. KONE should replace and rehabilitate deteriorated equipment and systems at the airport to meet current standards of public health, operational requirements and environmental protection.
A $9.15 million contract for airport pavement design and management at all three Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA)-operated airports has been awarded to Missouri-based architectural and engineering firm, HNTB.
HNTB will provide modernized airport layout plans, upgraded pavement standards, and training for LAWA personnel in the application of the airport pavement management system. The contract also involves offering training to personnel in pavement analysis, rehabilitation and replacement forecasting.
Corradini Corporation, a California-based contractor of terrazzo, mosaic, tile, marble and stone, has been awarded an estimated $1.5 million contract for the installation of terrazzo flooring in the baggage claim area at Terminal 1. The existing flooring will be completely replaced with terrazzo, which is a faux-marble with exposed marble chips and other fine aggregates on the surface of finished concrete or epoxy-resin. The new flooring is intended to ensure safe movement of arriving passengers.
LAWA owns and operates Los Angeles International Airport in Los Angeles, LA/Ontario International Airport in Ontario, LA/Palmdale Regional Airport in Palmdale, and Van Nuys Airport in Los Angeles.
