The new products are small, interchangeable modules, which address some of the barriers to widespread adoption of LED technology, including precise heat and current management, and the necessary optical design for superior illumination. The sustainable format allows electrical and lighting contractors on residential and commercial sites to use Transcend LED lights in existing fixtures –from decorative wall sconces to recessed cans and track lights – all while meeting code requirements.
Both Transcend products are based on the Acriche 4W AC LED from Seoul Semiconductor and can be directly plugged into the AC line voltage without a converter or separate power supply. Other product features include availability with GU24 base or direct wire attachment, color rendering index (CRI) of 80+, full integration with correlated color temperatures (CCT) of 3,000K and 5,000K, two beam angles of 11 degrees and 25 degrees available for RM2 module, and 112 degrees for PM3, dimmable, UL recognized, code compliant, and suitable for use in dry and damp locations protected from direct water spray.
The Transcend Lighting Series will be available globally in September 2009 and enable electrical and lighting contractors to incorporate LED lights into their construction projects. Molex will showcase its first two products at the 2009 NECA Convention and Trade Show in Seattle, September 12-15, 2009 (Booth 411), which include the Transcend RM2, a two inch reflector module, which provides efficient LED directional light with various beam intensity and angular distribution, and the Transcend PM3, a three inch surface puck module, which provides a diffused optic for ambient or decorative light.
