The $33 million renovation and expansion project unveiled by South Dakota-based practice Koch Hazard features luxury suites for football games, a field house with four locker rooms, and separate fields for football and track.

The track stadium will be designed to seat 8,000 spectators. The football stadium would have 12,200 seats initially, with room to grow to 20.

The 50-year-old football and track facility is owned by the Sioux Falls School District. There is a proposal to tear down the facility to make way for a new city events center. The school board has committed spending $6.3 million to upgrade Howard Wood.

Constructed in 1957, Howard Wood is one of the premier American football and track facilities in the region.
