Walnut Avenue Kroger is expanding its space by 36%. The 12-month long renovation will lend a fresh look to the store, along with maintaining its country store feel, says manager Renae Slater.

The project is expected to be completed by the end of 2009 and will showcase an expanded store, with see the store increase in size to 97,000 square feet, from the current 62,000 square feet.

The store is also planning for some layout changes. The nutrition section will triple in size and will offer a wider variety of health products. One aisle will exclusively carry an array of international food, stretching from the Caribbean to Europe to the Far East.

Along with layout improvements, the store is also receiving some aesthetic upgrades. The old laminate-style tile will be replaced with new flooring. The store will appear more sun-lit, along with more shelving space.
