According to PC World, the plans which have not been officially released include brushed steel walls with holes designed to allude to Windows security. The store’s Xbox 360 segment will be structured in the form of a ring that will become red occasionally.
An equivalent of Apple’s ‘Genius Bar’ could be Microsoft’s planned ‘Excuse Bar’, where Microsoft staff will assist customers with obscure and complex hardware problems.
Six distinct entrances (Starter, Basic, Premium, Professional, Enterprise, and Ultimate) will direct user into the same store. The Ultimate door may require a $100 fee for entry.
To enable people to gain access to the store even when the front doors are locked, the store emergency exits will be accessible at all times.
Storefront security will be operated by the Windows Genuine Advantage team.
A frightening in-store theme park ride called ‘blue screen of death’ will be designed by DreamWorks.
The stores are tipped to be named Microsoft Live Retail Store with PC Services for Digital Lifestyle Enthusiasts. The stores will be inspired by Microsoft’s User Account Control (UAC) in Vista.
IT World reports that the prime motivation for designing the new retail stores would be to improve the brand image and public relations and catch the attention of corporate customers and IT professionals.
