East Croydon station is a railway station and tram stop in Croydon, 8.3 miles south of Charing Cross in Travelcard Zone 5.

Croydon Council and Network Rail initiated the renovation plan and had shortlisted other urban planning and design companies such as Urban Initiatives, David Lock Associates, and John Thompson & Partners to guide the development of the station.

Homes & Communities Agency, a non-departmental public body that funds new affordable housing in England, will provide financial aid for the assignment and will concentrate on the area around East Croydon station.

Network Rail plans to spend EUR12 million ($16.9 million approx.) on improving the station and Studio Egret West will sketch the plan accordingly, to add two platforms and build a station concourse on a raft over the railway lines as well as accommodate space for trams, buses, taxis and bikes outside the station, and to advance access to pedestrians. It also works in linking the station area to the town center.

The East Croydon area also include projects launched by Craig Marks, the director of Menta – which is a regeneration company – to open three residential towers worth EUR500 million ($706.9 million approx.) next to East Croydon station in Surrey and another scheme which includes 560 homes with 50% housing, office buildings, a replacement warehouse theater, and an urban park by architectural firm Norman Fosters for Stanhope and Schroders. The site owner’s plan has been prepared by Stanhope, the developer, and Schroders are their financial backers.
