Announced by James Bidgood, the federal member for Dawson, the Central Queensland Institute of TAFE in Mackay would receive an estimated $1.9 million through the ‘Better TAFE Facilities’ initiative.
As part of project Block E, the heritage building that formerly housed the Mackay Technical College, will also receive a facelift. Block E is mainly used for student support services at present.
Bidgood was reported stating that the investment would ensure people in Mackay could access the education and training they needed to quality facilities. The ‘Better TAFE Facilities’ initiative is part of the Rudd Government’s $500 million teaching and learning capital fund for vocational education and training.
