The butterfly huts are designed to house 24 orphans in Thailand. The huts which are meant to provide brand new homes to orphans are pre-fabricated and assembled on site.
Bamboo is the main construction material which has been harvested locally and has been woven adhering to the traditional weaving style of the area.
The Soe Ker Tie House features specially flapped roof which is designed to infiltrate sufficient natural light and ventilation. The roof can be used for rain water harvesting and the collected water can be used during summer. Six sleeping units are incorporated in the house.
The house is offered to the Karen children refugees in a small village, Noh Bo, on the Thai-Burmese border. The house provides every child their own private space, a home to live in and a neighborhood where they could interact and play.
