The refurbishment work will include restoring the brick and limestone on the exterior, replacing exterior doors and windows, installing clocks on the north and south faces of the tower, installing a new tile roof, and constructing a north entrance plaza.

The interior will be completely gutted and replaced with new wiring, plumbing and ventilation, and more elevators.

There was a plaza in the original design that was not built, said Brian McDonald, whose firm, Architects Weeks, Ambrose, McDonald Inc., is drawing the new plans along with Ross Fowler PC Architects.
