The renovation project does not involve demolition of the existing terminal, but the space will undergo extensive improvements and remodeling. The terminal expansion includes addition of another concourse and a new baggage screening area. The airport currently has one terminal building, which is divided into 2 concourses – B and C.

The design work is slated for completion within 15 to 18 months. Along with renovations and additions to the main terminal, enhancement of airport security measures will also be taken care of.

The 36-year old terminal will receive improvements worth $193.3 million, marking the airport’s largest single endeavor. Airport spokeswoman Toni Herrera-Bast said that the KPS contract is worth $13.95 million.
