Announced by Dr. Gus Kious, chief administrative officer of the hospital, the expansion will include an enlargement of the hospital’s Lennon Diabetes Center. The project will also focus on outpatient care and will extend the hospital campus north to Euclid Avenue at Belmore Road from its main building at Terrace Road. This project will also add a new main entrance to the hospital on Euclid Avenue.
Facilities in the expansion will include clinics for heart disease, endocrinology, nephrology and dialysis. It will also include social-service programs for mental health and substance abuse. The hospital has acquired two vacant medical offices at the corner of Belmore Road and Euclid Avenue, and has been deconstructing their interiors in preparation for demolition.
The project will be finished within five years.
