Demolition work has begun to make way for the GBP89 million ($139 million approx), 500,000 square feet Oceanique project for UK-based property developer Devington Homes.

The landmark 31-story, 113 meter -high tower sits at the focal point of the new public space with a design emphasis on urban activity and high quality architecture. The creation of a public space is central to the scheme and supports the creation of a hotel as well as retail and commercial spaces including proposed bars and restaurants. Office accommodation in the order of 65,000 square feet and 172 luxury apartments and affordable housing form the fully integrated mixed use development.

Sustainability was a critical design element in the development of the project with an aspiration to exceed the 10% statutory requirement for on site renewables, including extensive green roofing systems, biomass boilers and a site wide CHP system.

ADG acted primarily as lead designers for the project team that included Davis Langdon, Hyder Consulting and Hoare Lea and 10 other specialist consultants.
