The renovation plans include a complete air-conditioning of the facility. The board accepted the firm’s proposal at a public board meeting on February 18, 2010. The feasibility study of the project has been completed, but still in the preliminary stage.
The school is slated to be completely retrofitted with new HVAC (heating, ventilation and air conditioning) systems. Plans also include for the replacement of the school windows. A new set up is being planned for entry into the building. The renovations would also create a new traffic pattern plan for a drop-off loop and for the buses, by which a loop in the front of the building would be created.
The renovation project, which is working on the green principles, aims to achieve the LEED certification like that of the $13-million renovation project that the Makefield Elementary School is undergoing.
The requirement of whether to build a new wing or renovate the existing modular units is still under discussion.
