The new ICU has been created to replace the original 40-year old outdated ICU.
The new ICU is designed to be a modern wide-open unit. The unit displays a visually pleasing design with no blind spots around the area. The new beds placed in the ICU are equipped with a variety of features, for instance, music therapy to offer soothing environment to ailing patients. Besides, the new beds can translate in 13 different languages, making it possible to communicate with patients who require an interpreter.
Each private room have become more spacious to accommodate families, healthcare equipment and monitoring systems; while offering improved patient access. Large floor-to-ceiling windows are featured to increase natural light infiltration into the rooms.
The new ICU project is part of NSMC’s $50 million investment project to update the facilities. The hospital has also received additional rooms and healthcare facilities, such as a new breast health center and sleep center.
