Enfield Council, working with the Homes and Communities Agency, the Greater London Authority, the London Development Agency, Transport for London, Design for London, and other key partners has appointed LDA Design in partnership with Beyond Green, Atkins and BNP Paribas Real Estate to deliver the proposals for Meridian Water.

John Phillipps, partner of LDA Design says, “An internally focused master plan, centered on dynamic waterscapes, will support a modern One Planet Living eco community. Transformational change, coupled with a ground-breaking approach to sustainability will help to fashion a dramatic new identity for Meridian Water. LDA Design will be exploring ways to remodel the River Lee’s urban landscape as well as creating a healthy living corridor along the Lee Valley, which together will foster a distinctive character for this soon to be rediscovered part of London.”

Enfield Council wants to create a new 5,000 home suburban quarter on the waterside site close to the Lea Valley Regional Park site, which currently houses a mix of vacant plots, former gas works and industrial units. Approximately 26 hectares of land currently safeguarded for employment purposes will be brought into productive use for mixed developments of residential, employment and supporting activities.
