The design has retained the character of the existing building. The Terminal building designed by the Horace Austin and Kenneth Wing organizes the design and plan of the renovated airport complex. The holding rooms which are currently spread over the three portable buildings will be consolidated under one new roof. It features low slung roof and simple silhouette.

The existing building which incorporates half of gates one through nine, has been converted into a security checkpoint. The eleven gates will be consolidated into a single efficient facility. Connecting the security checkpoint to the two wings of gates is a large courtyard with covered concourses providing shelter for passengers walking between buildings.

The entrance of the passengers at the center of the new gate structure will have two holding rooms. They include seven gates in the north wing and four gates in the south wing. The wings will include restrooms, concessions and a restaurant in the east side and holding room in the west side. The floor to ceiling glass and high ceilings will fill the area with natural light.

The existing trio of snack stands will be replaced by concession spaces which will offer snacks, merchandise and reading material.
