The new airport is a relocation of the existing Panama City-Bay County International Airport, in Panama City, Florida. The design of the 4,000-acre field guarantees no residential development in the future near the airfield itself or within the flight paths.

The new $318-million airport features a larger and modern terminal compared to the current terminal. The terminal building designed by following eco-sustainable features is expected to achieve US Green Building Council’s Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) rating. Spanning about 105,000 square feet, the terminal has seven gates, most of which are equipped with jet bridges.

The new Northwest Florida Beaches International Airport’s terminal will include two restaurants and a retail shop, six car rental ticketing counters, and an environmental educational kiosk featuring photographs and informational materials from the Bay County Audubon Society.
