The renovation work at the Molineux Stadium is planned to be carried out in three years involving different phases. In the initial phase, the number of seats will be increased from 29,303 to 36,000.

The first phase includes demolition of the Stan Cullis and Steve Bull stands and creation of the new two-tier stands in its place. The stand will extend till the north east end of the stadium.

Phase two will involve rebuilding of the Steve Bull Stand to increase stadium capacity to 36,000. The stand will be designed to house several corporate and hospitality facilities. Subsequent phases of renovation involve construction of a new top-tier on the Jack Harris Stand that will connect it to the new Steve Bull Stand. Redevelopment of the Billy Wright Stand is also under consideration to bring the stadium capacity to 50,000.

Wolverhampton Wanderers are talking to residents’ groups about their plans and hope to submit detailed plans to Wolverhampton City Council in July 2010.
