With a built-up area of five million square feet, the new campus will be the IT major’s second campus in Hyderabad. The inverted pyramid-shape building will be a five-story structure, along with ground floor and will feature state-of-the-art aesthetic elements. Constructed in a 450-acre SEZ, the building will be 23 metres tall.
Post completion, the Pocharam campus will accommodate 25,000 employees to become the world’s largest software services campus, according to Infosys Chief Mentor NR Narayana Murthy.
The new campus will house training facilities for global offices. In the first phase, facilities would be created to seat 10,000 people with an initial investment of INR600 crore ($127.54 million). It will also feature about 1,000 rooms to accommodate outstation employees coming for training. With this, Infosys will have about 10,000 rooms across all its campuses in India, including 450 at Gachibowli campus. These rooms can accommodate 45,000 to 60,000 employees or trainees around the year. The design has incorporated sufficient parking provisions. The facility will feature a 25 MW diesel driven power backup.
The building will be designed to become carbon neutral, achieve energy efficiency and water sustainability, and promote biodiversity.
The Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) has given permission to Infosys to construct its inverted pyramid-style main building. HMDA officials said that Infosys have also secured the mandatory ‘no objection certificate (NOC)’ from the Airports Authority of India and Fire and Emergency Services for a height of 29 metres.
