Spread over 1,000 square meter space, Akasha is designed by Mamilla Hotel’s interior architect Piero Lissoni. Akasha Wellbeing Retreat is designed to provide a unique wellbeing experience that assists guests and members in improving health.

Akasha is named after the Sanskrit word referring to the eternal source of the four basic elements of nature enabling life: fire, water, air and earth. Akasha blends these four elements to enable transformation and re-balancing. At Akasha, fire is represented by the Gym, water by the Spa, air by the Yoga, Pilates & Meditation Rooms and earth by the Organic Bar.

Lissoni has incorporated Feng Shui principles, Color Subconscious Theory and a combination of different sensory stimuli to create a warm, joyful and relaxed atmosphere at Akasha. A mix of ever-changing sounds, light and images, aligned with the four elements in the music meditation room, create a transformative effect. The Spa is built on an infinity pool that subtly spills over its edges to create a relaxed natural waterfall sound effect. It also includes a Watsu pool for hydro-treatments and a private hammam treatment room.

Located in Jerusalem city centre and overlooking the walls of the Old City and the Jaffa Gate, Mamilla Hotel opened in June 2009. The design for Mamilla Hotel also won acclaim previously. Mamilla Hotel is a part of ‘Alrov Luxury Hotels Collection’, the hotel and hospitality subsidiary of Tel-Aviv-based real estate company Alrov, founded in 1978.
