The company was selected following an open tender process which started in June 2009. With a seating capacity of 18,000, the stadium will also include a 3,000 square feet community facility, managed by St Helens Council’s Youth Services, which will be used by young people for recreational activities.

The stadium will also be home to a range of corporate hospitality facilities, meeting rooms and conference space for up to 1,600 delegates for match day hospitality which will provide new revenue-generating streams for the club. The project also includes a 140,000 square feet Tesco Extra store which will form part of the stadium construction contract, new public realm and new pedestrian links into St Helens town center.

Development partner Langtree, St Helens Council, the Northwest Regional Development Agency (NWDA) and the club have spent past three years in planning and securing the complex legal and financial foundations which will see Saints, the football team, leave Knowsley Road. Construction is expected to begin on the site soon with the stadium expected to be operational for end of the next Super League season.
