Designed by Copenhagen-based Bjarke Ingels Group (BIG), 8 Tallet (or 8 House) is a progressive apartment complex that is conceived as a small neighborhood in itself. The complex is based on the concept of localizing services for residences. It includes 476 apartments, with the ground floor featuring a commercial square spanning over 62,000 square meters. Some of the apartments feature private gardens.

The complex features a large green roof, which is oriented towards the maximum utilization of daylight. An east-west orientation provides each living unit with ample daylight. The design has broken the exterior space of the complex both horizontally and vertically. Green spaces are the dominating element in the courtyards and the roof, reducing the urban heat island effect. Communal areas in the center of the complex provide residents with a place to stretch and relax in winters.

The office and retail space at the lower floor provides pedestrian access throughout the entire complex. Pedestrian access is also featured on the path that transverses the roof of 8 Tallet, providing panoramic views of the adjacent plains of Amager.

The apartments are available in various sizes and prices to accommodate a large cross-section of the population.
