The new 45,000 square feet freestanding oncology centre designed by GS&P will provide outpatient radiation oncology as well as medical oncology services. It is designed to accommodate future expansion needs as well. The facility was opened on 2 August 2010.
The new freestanding facility is conceived as three linear accelerator vaults, one of which is shelled for future expansion. The new facility houses 19 exam rooms and 22 infusion stations consisting of private, semiprivate and open bay options. The infusion area is designed as an intimate environment complete with an exterior healing garden.
The Lewis Hall Singletary Oncology Center located among the pines and live oaks of Thomasville, has been designed by deriving inspiration from the historic community. The Mediterranean style architecture that was established on the John D. Archbold Memorial Hospital campus nearly a century ago has influenced the aesthetic form of the structure. Pristine stucco walls and low sheltering clay tile roofs dominate the built structure that inhabits a lush landscaped site.
The materials used in the exterior design embrace the ideas established by the existing buildings on the campus to create a unified look and feel. The materials and soft tones utilised in interior environments helps in offering a serene and comfortable healing environment.
GS&P is currently providing design services for the Archbold North Tower project. This 200,000 square feet tower addition will offer emergency services, surgery, intensive care unit (ICU), and a complete rejuvenation of the hospital central energy plant. The project is slated is to be completed in 2012.
