About $20 million has been spent to upgrade dining and shopping facilities. The main terminal food court has been improved with new additions such as California Pizza Kitchen and the first Pinkberry frozen yogurt in the state.

The flight information display system has been upgraded throughout the airport. An 1800-stall parking structure between the existing inter-island and overseas has been created, increasing the total parking capacity at the airport from 4,500 to 6,300. A new airfield electrical vault is constructed to improve the reliability of the airfield lighting and control system.

The renovation forms part of the $2.3 billion, 12-year airport modernisation and remodelling plan launched by the state in 2007.
