Trial Bay House is the first Robin Boyd win for the practice based in Hobart, Tasmania, and the first award given to Tasmania. Robin Boyd Award is widely regarded as Australia’s most prestigious annual residential housing award.

Designed by architect James Jones of HBV Architects, the home has been conceived as a dwelling that remedies the ailments of fast paced modern living. The building is notable for its fluid design connected with the immediate surrounds, making it more liveable. Awards juror and architect Peter Stutchbury stated that the residence’s stand-out features is its humility and serenity.

The structure has been designed to offer a healing effect by reducing the tempo of living and gives the residents time to think and relax.
