The AED1.8 million ($2.9 million) D1 tower will be the sister tower to Q1, the world’s tallest residential tower on the Gold Coast, Australia. Emirates Sunland Group has announced that it has recently been assessed by the Dubai Government Authority, Real Estate Regulatory Authority (RERA). Once finished, D1 will stand at 284m high, providing 529 luxury apartments and a new residential quarter for the city.
D1 is a collection of elegantly designed studio, one, two, three and four-bedroom luxury apartments boasting European appliances, multi-zoned air conditioning, front door intercom with video screens, secure parking, and 24-hour concierge. Residents also have exclusive access to the residents’ lounge on level 41, private cinema, as well as swimming pool, and gym facilities.
The design emphasis has been on quality and luxury throughout D1, with special features and finishes applied to the apartments. Following the success of the award-winning Q1, it is considered that D1’s external architectural design and interior finishes will also set a new benchmark in Dubai.
The development’s design is reflective of Dubai culture with the podium canopy constructed to mimic the region’s traditional fishing nets. Materials used throughout the development resemble the deep sea dhow vessels associated with the Gulf’s waterways and shade structures are evocative of Mashrabiyas. Mashrabiya is the Arabic term given to a type of projecting oriel window enclosed with carved wood latticework located on the second storey of a building or higher, often lined with stained glass.
The façade ‘glazing’ works at D1 have reached level 45 with another seven floors on the ground ready to be installed. Mechanical, hydraulic, fire and electrical services have been installed as high as level 52. Interior works on the lower levels are ongoing with the installation of the pipe-work and cabling required, enabling the plasterboard walls to be completed. Internal portioning works are at various levels of completion from levels three to 31.
D1 was the first Emirates Sunland Group residential development to commence in Dubai in 2007, with Emirates Sunland’s second project in Dubai, Palazzo Versace, also under construction on the edge of the Dubai Creek and is now over 80% complete.
Emirates Sunland Group is a 50:50 partnership between UAE-based Emirates International Holdings (Enshaa) and Australian-based Sunland Group Limited.
