The Target Center is home to the NBA’s Minnesota Timberwolves and the WNBA’s Minnesota Lynx. The main objective of the recently revealed renovation scheme is to make the facility more competitive for the coming 20 years.

The plans include opening up the facility more towards the street and the nearby Target Field. The concourses will be enhanced and the locker rooms will receive upgrades. A new restaurant, bar, food court, new club seats and a VIP entrance will be created to cater to the fans. More glass elements will be incorporated to make the facility more visually appealing and airy.

The main entrance will be relocated to the corner of 6th Street and First Avenue. Two large glass atriums will be created, and a complete interior remodelling will be undertaken. A gutting of the current 20-year-old facility will also be performed. The lobby area of Target Center will be equipped with new televisions, a better scoreboard and message boards. Toilets and concession stands will also get a facelift.

The city has solicited $8 million from the state to carry out basic arena improvements.
