The redeveloped centre will replace the existing Westminster Lodge Leisure Centre. Work will be spread across three phases, commencing in March 2011. Phase one of the project includes construction of a new car park, CCTV and lighting. Phase two will see the construction of the main build-areas, which includes a 25m, eight-lane main swimming pool; training pool and wet side changing facilities.

Additional facilities include health spa, cafe, climbing wall, fitness suite, dry change areas, a four court sports hall and dance studios. The current Westminster Lodge will remain fully open during building work. In the final phase the centre will be completely demolished to create further car parking by November 2012.

Willmott Dixon will collaborate with S&P Architects on the redevelopment project with the team including Drivers Jonas Deloitte as project manager, Van Zyl & de Villiers as M&E consultant and Cundalls as structural engineer.

This is the latest leisure project for the UK’s third largest privately owned contractor, which is heavily involved in creating a number of training facilities for next year’s Olympic Games including Surrey University, Corby and Gateshead.
