The Royal Military Academy Sandhurst is a vast site with some of the buildings dating back to the early 1800’s. The lighting design brief required products that will not only modernise the Academy but also make it more efficient without compromising the historical look and feel of the buildings. Right amount of lighting was also crucial for displaying the numerous pieces of art besides protecting them from harmful rays.

Environment 2000 specified and installed the new lighting, saving energy by upto 50%. Osram’s 184 x T5 LUMILUX High Efficiency (HE) 21W fluorescent tubes fitted inside 92 luminaires, were installed along the East and West corridors. These are operated on Quicktronic Professional electronic control gear that ensures optimum lamp performance. The LUMILUX® tubes are light colour 840 which simulates daylight and ensures that all the art works appear as they would in natural daylight.

Besides improving energy efficiency, the new lighting scheme also helped in enhancing the aesthetics of the space by hiding dark patches clearly visible across the top of the ceiling.
