New features in Centennial Patient Care Tower include expanded emergency department quadruple the size of the current one, consolidated and centralized new operating rooms, building capacity with two additional shelled-in floors, new renal dialysis department, new rooftop heli-pad, concentration of day procedures in one large, new comfortable area and complete integration with the existing hospital.
All of the labs and support services that are housed in the existing Pandosy Building will move to the new East Pandosy Clinical Support Building. The new building will be connected to the Centennial Tower by a third storey walkway across Pandosy.
Graham Design Build Services is now installing the footings for the foundation of that building. Flooring in the first, second and third levels have been completed along with the ceiling grid. Lighting and fixed furniture and cabinetry are being installed along with sinks, taps and bathroom fixtures. Wall protection and hand and bump rails are also being put in.
Wall construction for the fifth and sixth floors is in progress. These floors will house the new McNair Psychiatric Unit on fifth floor and relocated medical and surgical beds on sixth floor when the demolition of the old Pandosy building prior to construction of the Interior Heart and Surgical Centre (IHSC) gets underway.
